children and families of African-Descent by
studying and teaching the African Continent, African
Peoples and African and African American History.
Madrassa envisions a unified diaspora with a sense
of social responsibility, teens who know themselves
and recognize the myths perpetuated in Western
Cultures concerning people of African descent.
Madrassa solidifies a heritage and future that
immunizes children from negative influences by
highlighting ethnic pride and identity.
Lauren Lowery is a multidisciplinary author, archivist and historian. Her work and research centers on urban artforms, youth empowerment, Blackness, anti-Blackness, and their intersections to create frameworks for reimagining the role that culture plays in the redevelopment of transforming African American lives and communities.
